Measuring to the Half Inch
Check out the visual below to see how you count by halves or 1/2 of an inch. Each inch is divided, or separated, into two parts. Each of the two parts is called a half, or 1/2. When you skip count, you land on a 1/2 inch every other time. So, you would count 0, 1/2, 1, 1 1/2, 2, 2 1/2, 3, 3 1/2, etc. You do NOT always have to land on a 1/2 when you skip count by halves.
