hardness- use a penny, fingernail, glass streak plate or iron nail to test
shape- thin, cubed, no shape, rounded, crystals
light transmission- How much light shines through? some? a lot? none at all? Are the minerals transparent (all), translucent (some), or opaque (not at all) when a light is shined through?
