Reminder: These books be close to your child's independent reading level- books they can quickly and easily read on their own. They will be reading at least 3-4 books in one series AND 3-4 books in a second series during this unit, in addition to the writing and talking work that is required. They will meet about 2x per week with their written work to discuss their books in clubs, growing and revising their thoughts, opinions, and theories.

Looking for Just Right Series Books for Your Child?
Parents- Download the page below to see popular children's series books by reading level. Remember, the levels should be used as a guide. Always have your child try the Three Strikes You're Out reading test. Open the book to any full page. Have your child read the book out loud. Each time they make a mistake (don't count proper nouns- the name of a person or place), they should hold up a finger. If they get to the end of a page and they are holding up three fingers or less, this book is probably just right for them. If they make more than three mistakes (4 or 5), try another page. If they still make more than 3 mistakes, try another book for now. Remember, children should be reading books with 98-100% accuracy to improve their reading and thinking skills. Books that are too hard hamper fluency and deep thinking!
