Welcome 2014 Third Graders
Dear Students and Families,
Welcome to third grade! I am so excited we will be working and learning together this year. This will be my 18th year as a teacher with Saline Area Schools, and my twelfth year in third grade. Before that, I taught 4th grade for 5 years, and spent one year as the district’s first gifted and talented coordinator. I've been lucky in that Woodland Meadows has been my home school for the entire time!
My husband and I both grew up in Saline and went to many of the same schools you will. We both graduated from Saline, as did my father, so we have lived here a LONG time! I’m sure I will see many of you around the area. We live just outside the city, with the any combination of our college-age children, two cats, and a rambunctious dog!
When I'm not teaching, I love to spend time with my family doing things outdoors like traveling, camping, kayaking, and gardening. This year my husband and I have spent a lot of time on the Huron River kayaking, and on the west side of the state enjoying Lake Michigan.
I also love to watch sports (go, Detroit Tigers!), bake, read, sew, visit with family, and play with our pets. As we read and write, you will hear more about me and I will learn all about you. We’re going to have a great year!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Black
